The highly anticipated Drumming Up An Appetite cookbook, created by the late Vinnie Paul, renowned drummer of Pantera, Damageplan, and Hellyeah, is finally available for fans and food enthusiasts alike!
Today, March 11, marks what would have been Vinnie’s 61st birthday, serving as a poignant reminder of his enduring legacy. This cookbook encapsulates his love for “Sunday Funday” dinners shared with friends, featuring an impressive three-chapter structure that includes over 70 mouthwatering recipes, each a reflection of Vinnie Paul’s culinary favorites.
The chapters are cleverly themed with Pantera-inspired titles, focusing on different meal components: the main courses are showcased in “Reinventing the Meal,” delightful side dishes are explored in “Far Beyond Kitchen,” and delectable desserts are highlighted in “A Vulgar Display of Flour.”
This exciting project has been in development for more than a decade and has now come to fruition under the care of Z2 Publishing, showcasing the passion behind the creation.
Back in 2015, Vinnie shared his vision, saying, “My cookbook will be called Drumming Up an Appetite With Vinnie Paul. How clever is that? It features a photo of me behind my drum set, holding two turkey legs, which are humorously known as drumsticks!”

Brian “Bridog” Jones, who was Vinnie’s best friend and personal assistant, shared insights on Vinnie’s legendary BBQ skills. “Vinnie’s BBQ gatherings were far from ordinary, whether at his homes in Texas or Las Vegas, or while touring—his cooking for the bands, crew, and local venue staff was legendary! The effort that went into this cookbook reflects the hard work of many, and now Vinnie’s beloved recipes can be enjoyed by everyone!”
The cookbook features an array of finger-licking barbecue recipes, tantalizing spicy jalapeño dishes, his mother’s cherished pea soup, and a dish intriguingly named Black Sabbath shrimp, which piques our curiosity. Could it be a unique blackened shrimp recipe? It’s certainly likely!
