War of the Worlds by Ice Cube Named Worst Picture of the Year

Results from the 46th Razzie Awards are in, and this year’s major winner/loser is Prime Video’s cringe-worthy production, War of the Worlds! The film, featuring Ice Cube, “won” five out of the six categories it was nominated for, including worst actor (Ice Cube), worst prequel, remake, rip-off, or sequel, worst director (Rich Lee), and worst screenplay (Kenny Golde, Marc Hyman). Yikes! However, one can only imagine the streaming numbers this Rick Lee-directed disaster will generate among fans of terrible cinema. These awards could be a hidden win.

Losing the War Within

“Completely ruining H.G. Wells’ classic novel, director Rich Lee (possibly inspired by Ed Wood) opted for a silly gimmick, poor dialogue, and a particularly amusing performance by lead actor Ice Cube to claim 2025’s highest number of awards,” stated Razzie organizers.

Other “winners” at this year’s event include “all seven artificial dwarves” from Disney’s Snow White, with organizers commenting, “It cost a fortune and lost a fortune, perhaps cursed by Walt himself for ignoring his dying wish for it never to be remade.”

Rebel Wilson and Scarlet Stallone Steal the Spotlight

In other news, Rebel Wilson “won” the Razzie for Worst Actress for her performance in Bride Hard. Meanwhile, Sylvester Stallone’s daughter, Scarlet Rose Stallone, received the award for Worst Supporting Actress for her role in Brian Skiba’s Western Gunslingers.

This year’s Razzie Awards displayed little variety in winners, with War of the Worlds dominating the embarrassment category. However, this means many nominees left without any awards. This could work in their favor, even if being nominated is already a cinematic sin.
