According to authorities, the unnamed girl was arrested on November 9 after police connected her to two robberies that occurred on the evening of October 5 — just minutes apart. While one initially attempted to seize the bike, they ended up escaping with groceries instead.

Moreover, the second robbery took place approximately 15 minutes later along the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Interestingly, police state that the same group stopped a scooter rider by seizing their backpack. One child took the scooter for a brief ride before abandoning it when an officer arrived. Additionally, one of them reportedly stole the victim’s phone, which was attached to the scooter. Officers are still searching for the other minors involved, raising concerns about how widespread these incidents may be.
D.C. Neighborhood Frustrated With Youth Robbers
Residents are understandably upset and worried. Neighbors like Jean Phillippe and Cody Wolfe voiced their frustration regarding recurring juvenile crime in the area, referencing previous robberies in May along the same trail. “It’s not good for a district,” Phillippe stated. Wolfe added, “What is the city doing to ensure that youth have positive activities available?” For now, police are holding the 12-year-old accountable while continuing to search for the rest of the group.
“What is the city doing to ensure that youth have positive activities available to keep them engaged instead of resorting to crime or actions that could lead to trouble?” Wolfe continued. “What initiatives can we implement for our youth?”
