Wendy Osefo is currently taking a break from her teaching responsibilities.
The star of The Real Housewives of Potomac had her publicist address rumors regarding her termination from the position of Distinguished Visiting Professor at Wesleyan University, following the arrest of Wendy and her husband Eddie Osefo on October 9 for multiple felony fraud charges.
“Contrary to recent media reports, Dr. Wendy Osefo was not terminated from a faculty position at Wesleyan University,” Wendy’s representative stated to People in a statement on October 14. “She formally submitted her letter of resignation prior to any public announcement made by the university.”
In fact, the legal issues faced by the 41-year-old did not influence her decision to resign from her position at the Connecticut college.
“Dr. Osefo made the voluntary decision to step down from her role,” the statement continued. “This decision was made independently and communicated directly to the university before any external reports surfaced.”
Wendy and Eddie—parents to children Karter, 11, Kruz, 9, and Kamrynn, 5—were taken into custody on October 9 after a Maryland grand jury indicted them on 16 counts of fraud—seven against the former professor and nine against her husband.
