Have you ever wanted to see Wonder Woman perform a Kiss song?
This unique event took place on September 16, 1980, when Lynda Carter, enjoying the success of her role in the Wonder Woman TV series, starred in Lynda Carter Encore!, her second television variety special.
In a lavish “Rock ‘n Roll Fantasy” segment, Carter performed the Bad Company song of the same name, Tina Turner’s rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary,” Bette Midler’s “Friends,” and notably, Kiss’ disco hit from 1979, “I Was Made for Lovin’ You.” This track became one of the band’s most significant successes, reaching No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

How Gene Simmons Paid Tribute by Dressing Like Lynda Carter
Six years later, Kiss member Gene Simmons appeared in the 1986 film Never Too Young to Die as drag performer Velvet Von Ragner. As shown in the video below, he donned an outfit strikingly similar to the one Carter wore during her performance of “I Was Made for Lovin’ You.” “I didn’t design it,” Simmons later remarked. “But looking back, it was clearly inspired by Lynda’s Kiss thing.”
Almost 40 years later, Carter saw Simmons in that outfit for the first time. “Oh, my goodness! It’s the same outfit!,” she exclaimed during a 2024 interview with Lyndsanity. “I just saw it. It’s just so good. He’s so fabulous — Gene Simmons dresses as Lynda C., for a change! Oh, Gene, you’re just too great. I need to see Gene Simmons and just hug him and say, ‘Thank you so much for that.’”
