Xenomorph from Earth Receives Hilarious Fan Nickname

Fans have given the new Xenomorph in Alien: Earth a simple but accurate nickname. Alien: Earth is the latest entry in the expansive Alien franchise. Noah Hawley, who previously wrote and directed episodes of TV shows such as Fargo and Legion, developed the series for FX and FX on Hulu.

The Xenomorph in Alien: Earth gets a nickname common with The Bear’s Carmy

Alien fans have dubbed the Xenomorph in Alien: Earth as “Bear.” This came after in Episode 2, Sydney Chandler’s Wendy observes how the Xenomorph’s scratches are similar to those of bears, seemingly inspiring fans to give the nightmarish extraterrestrial creature such a nickname. Interestingly, the Bear is another nickname for Jeremy Allen White’s Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto on The Bear, also an FX on Hulu show.

Previously, the cast and crew of the first movie in the franchise, 1979’s Alien, gave the original Xenomorph the nickname Big Chap. Since then, several companies have used that name for officially licensed media.

Unlike that time, there were no members of the production involved in coining the “Bear” nickname, but fans did it by themselves. Additionally, players gave the Xenomorph appearing in Alien: Isolation the nickname Steve.

After Bear got its nickname, the largest Alien community online, the LV246 subreddit, celebrated the development. Sprite_King posted, “I dig the name Bear for this fella, fits him very well.”

Meanwhile, Daxx22 noted, “Bear works, but I also like ‘Guillotine’ for the apartment sequence lol.” Another user, Tmoldovan, joked, “I think Bear would be fun to have a beer with. He probably drives an old beat-up truck that never seems to die and is ready to haul a couch to your dorm room.”

UlrichZauber mentioned in their post that they “kind of like” that the Xenomorph has that nickname. They added that the Xenomorph “is giving octopuses a run for their money on being cryptic, without even having any chromatophores. My cats are downright jealous!”

Alien: Earth streams new episodes on Tuesdays.
