Zosia Mamet Quits Mad Men: Reason Behind Her Departure

It appears that Zosia Mamet may be sharing her reasons for leaving her role on Mad Men.

The Girls alum disclosed why she made a sudden exit from guest-starring on a renowned TV series for two seasons at the age of 19, which coincides with the age she was when she portrayed Joyce Ramsay in the AMC drama.

For Zosia—who featured in Mad Men for several episodes during seasons four and five, which aired from 2010 to 2012—her choice to leave the unnamed show was influenced by a negative interaction with the series’ showrunner.

“We were conducting a blocking rehearsal when he arrived on set,” the 37-year-old recounted in her new collection of essays, Does This Make Me Funny?, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “The scene was brief and straightforward. I was supposed to enter the office, inform everyone that I had photos of something significant, take them out of the manila envelope I was holding, and place them on the table.”

However, when Zosia practiced her lines for the scene, she stated that the showrunner—whose name she did not reveal—altered the director’s role and called “cut.”
