After wrapping up their current shows in Los Angeles, the talented duo will participate in major events such as New York City’s Governors Ball Music Festival and Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Festival. This will be followed by a series of festival performances across Europe, the U.K., and North America before embarking on their own headline tour in September, offering fans an unforgettable experience filled with their signature sounds.
Royel Otis was established in 2019, gradually building their reputation with a collection of EPs released between 2021 and 2023. Their debut album, Pratts & Pain, is set to launch in 2024, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey. Their single, “Sofa King,” impressively reached No. 12 on the Alternative Airplay chart in 2023. However, the band gained immense popularity after their captivating cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor,” featured in triple j’s Like a Version series, which showcased their innovative style and ability to reinterpret classics.
This popular cover not only topped the Alternative Airplay charts but also achieved a peak position of No. 41 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The band’s flair for covers was further highlighted when their stunning rendition of The Cranberries’ “Linger” during a SiriusXM session propelled them onto the Hot 100, reaching an impressive No. 94, showcasing their versatility and appeal across different genres.
In late 2024, Royel Otis achieved remarkable success, winning four ARIA Awards from eight nominations, including the prestigious titles of best group and best rock album. The talented producer Chris Collins also received accolades for best produced release and best engineered release for their album, Pratts & Pain, further solidifying the band’s esteemed position in the music industry.
Currently, Royel Otis is gearing up for an exciting new chapter, having revamped their social media presence with a minimalist aesthetic. They have hinted at an exhilarating performance experience, stating, “there will be singing, dancing, and new music,” alongside their latest tour announcement. Additionally, the band has been teasing a new track potentially titled “Moody,” expected to drop on May 9, which has fans eagerly anticipating its release.
