‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ (2023)

Rotten Tomatoes: 33% | IMDb: 5.6/10

For a family film this weekend, take a trip underwater for this big-budget superhero sequel. The sequel to 2018’s Aquaman, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom follows Jason Momoa‘s titular half-Atlantean, half-human king of Atlantis as he goes head-to-head once again with Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), only this time, an ancient force is unleashed by the power of the mythic Black Trident.

A pulse-racing superhero sequel as visually exciting as it is gripping, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom might’ve failed to impress critics in 2023, but audiences were left satisfied. Also starring the likes of Patrick Wilson and Nicole Kidman, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is an action-packed adventure that will keep both young and old on the edge of their seats.

Before he returns as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday , don’t miss Chris Hemsworth ‘s underrated F1 replacement on Prime Video. Rush , directed by Ron Howard , dives into the rivalry between Hemsworth’s risk-taker James Hunt and the rule-follower Niki Lauda( Daniel Brühl ). However, this rivalry is pushed too far when tragedy strikes.

From its striking cinematography to Hans Zimmer ‘s pulse-pounding score, Rush ticks all the boxes for a movie of this ilk. Slick and stylish, Howard’s film is as exhilarating as it is grounded, with the obsessive rivalry of Hunt and Lauda explored with depth and detail. Rush was an awards darling, scoring a win at the BAFTAs and several Critics’ Choice nominations, although it sadly missed out on any Academy success.

Rotten Tomatoes:44% | IMDb:5.3/10

Following her supporting role in the recent legacy sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 , and ahead of her starring turn in This Tempting Madness , check out this underrated2025 effort from Simone Ashley on Prime Video this weekend. Also starring Luke Fetherson ,Anoushka Chadha , and more, this Gilmore Girls-esque cozy rom-com might not be the most innovative in the genre, but it’s sure to put a smile on your face. “Ashley carries the movie, and her talent should be utilized in more romantic comedies,” wrote Marisa Williams in Collider’s review of the movie, adding,”Don’t take it too seriously, and you’ll have a good time.”
