Among the two major ongoing projects in George RR Martin’s wider universe, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms currently holds significant momentum. The first season of the HBO adaptation has been well-received by both fans and critics, boasting a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.6/10 on IMDB.
The smaller scale of the production has greatly benefited its appeal, offering something fresh to longtime fans by shifting away from the politics and intrigue that characterized Game of Thrones. Given this success, it seems inevitable that we will see it explored in various other formats to leverage its popularity.
Now, the first signs of that are emerging, confirming that a new release is expected in Winter that fans will likely want to engage with.
On SciFiHobby.com, manufacturer Rittenhouse Archives announced the Winter 2026 release of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1, a new trading card set based on the first season of the HBO show. Unfortunately, they have not yet provided further details on what fans can expect from the cards, but if their previous releases are any indication, there should be some exciting chase options.
On October 21, the company will also release their second series for House of the Dragon, featuring many cards with handwritten signatures from cast members. The Base Set includes 65 cards (3 cards for each episode & 41 Character Cards), while the Bonus Set features Autograph Cards from over 30 different signers and Hand-Drawn Sketch Cards from more than 30 artists.
The main attraction for fans will be the “All Must Choose” Black (CT1) and Green (CT2) Metal Card Case Topper (one included per case), along with the Emma D’Arcy/Matt Smith Dual Autograph Card and Rhys Ifans/Olivia Cooke Dual Autograph Card, both found only once in every eight cases.
It is reasonable to assume that the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms set will follow a similar format, although there may be some changes to the specifics.
The second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has also recently completed filming, with a release window currently set for early-to-mid 2027. The series is projected to run for three seasons, although showrunner Ira Parker has previously expressed a desire for it to continue beyond that. If it maintains its viewer engagement, it would be surprising if HBO does not seek to maximize its potential.
