“It was Nia Long. I’m unsure who [she] she mistook me for. The only times I’ve publicly mentioned Nia were in supportive contexts, particularly during her personal struggles involving her partner [when] and the issue of infidelity. I have always believed that Nia deserves to be with a good man who respects her,” Sherri stated during her appearance on “The Breakfast Club.” She emphasized that she has no animosity towards Nia and considers herself a fan of her work.

She further elaborated on her rationale for discussing the encounter publicly. “Many people question, ‘Why would you bring up something like this in public?’ Firstly, I never revealed her name, and numerous women were present at the Othello premiere. Secondly, as a stand-up comic, every experience in my life serves as material for my routines. My talk show acts as my comedy stage, where I feel comfortable sharing my experiences. So, I spoke about it honestly, stating, ‘You know, this happened,’” she explained.

“We are both the same age, which allows for open dialogue. That’s precisely why I extended an invitation for her to join me on my show. I aim to uplift rather than diminish others. Yet, I was genuinely perplexed by the interaction. I also find it uncomfortable when someone touches or pulls at me unexpectedly. During our encounter, she grabbed me and spun me around. [But] I’m cool with everything now. It’s all behind me. I would genuinely appreciate the opportunity to speak with her and clarify the situation,” she added.

In case you missed it, Sherri recently made an appearance at the premiere of the Netflix film Straw, showcasing her continued presence in the entertainment industry.
