Ravi Patel shines brilliantly in his portrayal of Amit, consistently delivering a performance that resonates with audiences. In the series, Amit frequently finds himself as the punchline in various comedic situations, often experiencing mishaps that lead to him being injured or overwhelmed during animal-related escapades. The essence of Patel’s performance is rooted in his remarkable charisma, impeccable comedic timing, and profound relatability. He masterfully embodies Amit’s anxious and nervous demeanor, which strikes a chord with viewers. Notably, Amit is the only officer in the Northwest Precinct who is married and has children, which adds depth to his character as he navigates the challenges of middle-aged life. As a devoted parent and husband, he grapples with the stress stemming from his children’s misbehavior and the complexities of couples therapy with his wife, Maya (Kalyn Miles). This relentless tribulation faced by Amit enhances his relatability and connection with the audience.

Amit often exhibits a tendency to dream big, constantly coming up with new side projects aimed at improving his family?s financial situation. Despite his missteps and shortcomings, he embodies the quintessential underdog spirit of the American dream. His character inspires viewers to root for his success, even amidst his frequent blunders at work. In the latest episode titled “Hot Dogs and Losers,” Amit seizes the opportunity to manage the bar during the precinct’s trivia night. Determined to make the most of his approved time off, he discovers his hidden talent for bartending, showcasing yet another dimension of his character.

Explore the Heartwarming Bond Between Amit and Shred in Season 3

One of the most fulfilling storylines in Animal Control Season 2 follows the unique partnership between Amit and fellow officer Fred “Shred” Taylor (Michael Rowland) as they embark on a home refurbishment project to sell for profit. However, this venture is not without its challenges, as they soon find themselves facing obstacles like black mold and construction accidents, culminating in a dramatic moment in the Season 2 finale, “Beagles and Lemurs.” In Season 3, Episode 4, titled “Baby Kangaroos and Chickens,” just as Amit and Shred seem to make progress on their home renovation, they encounter a squatter named Parker (Josh Segarra). This vagrant attempts to deceive Amit into signing over the lease, but Shred ultimately steps in to save the day by convincing Parker to move in with him, sparing Amit from additional stress.

Season 3 also welcomes Josh Segarra and Lucy Punch in recurring roles.

This subplot beautifully highlights Shred’s unwavering kindness and empathy towards Amit. Both characters displayed a degree of gullibility in their interactions with Parker, but Shred?s readiness to take the fall for Amit illustrates his deep understanding of Amit?s struggles. Shred?s actions reflect his unwavering loyalty to his colleagues, boundless kindness towards friends, and a genuine compassion for Amit?s anxiety. While much of the series focuses on Shred?s efforts to penetrate the tough exterior of his partner, Frank Shaw (Joel McHale), it?s commendable that the writers invest time in portraying the intricate relationships among the Northwest Precinct’s members, such as the bond shared between Shred and Amit.

Given Amit’s ongoing struggles with anxiety and family dynamics, it would be refreshing to witness him achieve a significant triumph in the series. Amit endures a multitude of challenges, and it is high time for him to experience a substantial moral victory without subsequent setbacks. Although he briefly gained viral fame due to an awkward thumbs video, he later squandered that opportunity by fumbling the opening pitch at a minor league baseball game. It would be wonderful for the writers to grant Amit a well-deserved vacation at some point, or perhaps allow him to impress his children during a school show-and-tell. Ultimately, Amit has become one of the most cherished characters in this hilarious series.
