Over the past few years, Apple TV has become the go-to place for compelling, thought-provoking, fiercely original science fiction shows. Severance satirized the dwindling work-life balance with a draconian corporate procedure that separates an employee’s personal life from their professional life. Pluribus imagined a strangely peaceful apocalypse, where a benevolent alien hive mind has body-snatched all but a select few of the human race, and is determined to turn Earth’s messy, human chaos into a tightknit utopia with lots of smiles, but no free will.
Apple has expanded some of its most popular sci-fi shows into a larger universe with spinoffs. The streamer’s alternate-history Space Race drama For All Mankind recently dropped a Soviet-centric spinoff, Star City, looking on the other side of the Iron Curtain, and there’s a Cold War-era prequel to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters in the works. Silo is a fascinating dystopian drama, Sugar is a detective noir that later turned out to be a sci-fi show, and Foundation brought one of the seminal literary sci-fi masterworks to life.
The tech giant’s streaming arm has a bunch of exciting new sci-fi projects in the works, too. Apple is adapting William Gibson’s iconic cyberpunk novel Neuromancer — a huge influence on The Matrix, but generally considered to be unfilmable — into a TV series, and it should be pretty awesome. But sci-fi isn’t the only market that Apple is cornering; between Ted Lasso, The Studio, and Widow’s Bay, it’s also quietly becoming one of the best places for original comedy, too.
Apple TV jest domem dla najlepszych programów komediowych w streamingu
Apple TV is home to some of the finest comedies in the streaming-sphere. The shiniest jewel in its crown is Ted Lasso — the global smash hit that turned a one-joke advertising mascot into one of the most beloved comic characters of his generation — but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
After turning NBC’s Premier League spokesperson into a pitch-perfect blend of laugh-out-loud comedy and tear-jerking tragedy, Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein did it again with Shrinking. While Ted Lasso has touched on the pressing issue of mental health in sports, Shrinking is all about mental health, as it explores one therapist’s struggle with grief following his wife’s death and an older, wiser therapist’s struggle with the early onset of Parkinson’s disease, and honestly, as sappy as the show can be sometimes, it healed something within me.
The Studio is Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s spot-on satire of the modern movie business, brought to life with snappy dialogue and immersive oners. Widow’s Bay is Katie Dippold’s blend of the quirky small-town humor of Schitt’s Creek and the macabre small-town horror of Stephen King. Margo’s Got Money Troubles is an honest, heartfelt look at single motherhood and the economics of OnlyFans. Bad Monkey is a riveting crime caper, Murderbot is a smart sci-fi satire, and Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed has given us more of Tatiana Maslany, which is never a bad thing.
Sukces Apple TV w komediach wynika z gatunkowych sztuczek
The smartest move Apple has made with its comedy programming is exploring a wide range of different genres. There’s something on Apple TV for everyone because almost all of its comedies carve out their own little genre niche. The best comedy shows on Apple TV are the ones that plant themselves in an entirely different genre, then imbue that genre with unexpected laughs.
Shrinking is as much a straightforward drama as it is a comedy; the inciting incident of a wife and mother’s untimely death certainly leans more dramatic than comedic. Ted Lasso and Stick both mix in sports elements (football and golf, respectively) with classic underdog stories. Bad Monkey is a pulpy crime story, Murderbot is a sci-fi actioner, and Widow’s Bay is classic supernatural horror. Some of Apple’s comedies are just comedies — The Studio, for example, is just good old-fashioned satire — but they’re the exception, not the rule.
Komedia już przyniosła Apple TV wielkie zwycięstwo w 2026 roku
Apple TV scored a record-smashing 89 nominations at the 2026 Emmys. 66 of those nominations are for the Creative Arts Emmys — the ones awarding technical and guest categories — but 23 Primetime Emmy nominations are still pretty incredible. Out of those 23, the majority (14, to be exact) are for comedies. Shrinking, Widow’s Bay, and Margo’s Got Money Troubles have all been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, and the remaining nine nominations are all for various leading and supporting actors (Harrison Ford, Elle Fanning, Matthew Rhys — some of the greatest actors in the world). Shrinking is a returning favorite, but both Widow’s Bay and Margo’s Got Money Troubles are new shows, so Apple’s comedy output is clearly still in its prime.
Apple may have broken a new record with its Emmy nominations this year, but the streamer is no stranger to awards success. Last year,The Studio swept the Emmys ,and Seth Rogen left the ceremony with more trophies than he could carry.
Następna ekscytująca komedia Apple TV zadebiutuje we wrześniu
Apple TV’s next star-studded comedy series is just a few short weeks away. On September 23rd , Apple will premiere its eight-episode first season of Brothers , starring long-time collaborators Matthew McConaughey i Woody Harrelson . McConaughey i Harrelson previously co-starred in first season True Detective – one z największych telewizyjnych arcydzieł XXI wieku – ale Brothers obiecuje być znacznie głupszy i znacznie bardziej meta niż ten makabryczny kryminał.
McConaughey i Harrelson będą grać fikcyjne wersje siebie samych w stylu Curb Your Enthusiasm .
Dwaj aktorzy współtworzyli serial z David West Read ,autorem Schitt’s Creek , ale Lee Eisenberg , autor The Office , pełni rolę showrunnera .
