Apple TV Comedy Shows That Are Masterpieces Every Episode

Apple TV features some of the finest shows from the last decade. While many are dramas and thrillers, the platform also offers fantastic comedies. Some of these comedies blend genres with drama or horror. They are silly and satirical, groundbreaking and Emmy-winning.

All these Apple TV comedy shows are not only worth watching, but they also improve on a second viewing. Interestingly, all these shows not only lasted multiple seasons, but many are preparing for the release of their latest episodes. With a few set to debut new seasons in 2027 and one as early as later this year, now is the perfect time to catch up.

‘Ted Lasso’ (2020–Present)

One of Apple’s earliest and most successful shows, Ted Lasso received 20 Emmy nominations for its first season alone. The sports comedy-drama is considered one of the most perfect sitcoms of the last decade, beautifully blending comedy with serious topics of mental health, delivering an unexpected emotional punch in the best way possible.

The title character, played by Jason Sudeikis, moves to England to coach a struggling English football team, despite being an American football coach. As he brings his unique sensibilities to the team, it evolves into a feel-good story about men supporting men. Don’t be misled: As much as Ted Lasso will make you cry, it will also make you laugh and smile from ear to ear. Although it seemingly concluded in 2023, Ted Lasso returned in 2026 for a fourth season focusing on Ted’s return to coach a women’s team. While there is no definitive renewal yet, a fifth season is anticipated.

‘Shrinking’ (2023–Present)

Thankfully, when Ted Lasso ended, the same creators introduced subscribers to Shrinking, another show that combines humor and heart with comedy and drama. The series stars Jason Segel as Jimmy Laird, a therapist grieving the loss of his wife. As he falls deeper into despair, those around him — including co-workers, friends, neighbors, and his daughter — do what they can to help him recover.

It may sound somber, but Shrinking is actually one of the funniest and most endearing shows on television right now. The cast chemistry is wonderful, featuring standouts like Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, Ted McGinley, and, of course, Harrison Ford. If you love Ted Lasso, you’ll find that Shrinking is just as good, if not better. It’s a completely different show but shares the same tonal flow and conveys the strong message that laughter and finding joy in life are the best medicine. While Jimmy’s journey is central to the first season, subsequent episodes expand to cover every character meaningfully. So yes, prepare your tissues again because you’ll be crying and laughing so hard you might cry.

‘Platonic’ (2023–Present)

Sweeping the Emmys this year and set to return for a second season, Widow’s Bay is one of the most unique comedies on TV right now. It mixes traditional workplace comedy with supernatural elements and horror such that you feel like you’re watching two (or more) stories take place at once. Tom Loftis (Mathew Rhys) is the mayor of the small town who believes it can become the next Martha’s Vineyard. However, longtime residents swear that the place is cursed. As strange occurrences begin to unfold, it’s evident that there might be some truth to these tall tales.

Widow’s Bay stands out as one of the best comedy shows of 2026 so far, taking viewers on a wild ride through its ten episodes with several standout episodes that further shift the genre. It serves as both a love letter to classic ’80s and ’90s horror films likeCarrie,Jaws, andHalloween, while also paying homage to workplace sitcoms likeParks and Recreation. The tone blends nostalgia with modern vibes, weaving together so much into one story that it keeps you captivated until the very end.

‘Loot’ (2022–Present)

…

An underrated yet hilarious comedy,Loot, shines a spotlight on Molly Wells (Maya Rudolph) who finds herself lost after her tech billionaire husband leaves her for a younger woman. Although she receives half his fortune,s he struggles with how to spend her newfound wealth or fill her time.

The series follows Molly as she visits a charitable foundation she established years ago in hopes of discovering purpose in her life. However, those working there are not particularly thrilled about her presence.

Loot presents a midlife crisis like no other — showcasing a woman with unlimited funds yet no direction against a backdrop of individuals striving to assist those in need while harboring resentment towards her wealth and skepticism about her intentions. With three seasons already released and no word on whetherLoot will continue, it remains worth watching for its over-the-top humor that serves as an excellent pick-me-up after a long day.
