Everyone, including major pop stars, has that one person they would be thrilled to meet in person. For a long time, Billie Eilish had Justin Bieber at the top of her list. Recently, they have become friends, and over the weekend, Bieber, 32, made Eilish’s childhood dreams come true by inviting his self-proclaimed superfan onto the stage to perform his 2009 song “One Less Lonely Girl.”
It was evident from the hugs and laughter that Eilish, 24, was enjoying herself immensely, and her mother, Maggie Baird, confirmed this in a heartfelt Instagram note celebrating the special bond between her daughter and Justin.
“One of the most touching moments ever. It sounds unbelievable, but we see our children form these deep connections with artists who inspire them, and often there’s little we can do,” Baird wrote in the post, which included a picture of Billie embracing Justin with a huge smile on her face, along with footage of Eilish overwhelmed with emotion as she stumbled and fell to her knees while making her way to the stage for this extraordinary moment.
“But we buy them records and perhaps get them tickets to a concert (or a movie of a concert in our case because we couldn’t afford to see an actual concert),” she continued about her daughter, who has been a Belieber for most of her life. “Witnessing this incredible dream come true over many years is so amazing. I’m so thankful to Justin Bieber for the kindness he has shown Billie and our entire family and to Hailey who makes so many things wonderful and possible.”
Justin’s wife, Hailey Bieber, responded with a “you guys!” in the comments, followed by “so special.” In other photos, Baird hugs Eilish after the memorable on-stage moment and mother and daughter share their excitement over Justin’s performance from the audience. Later, Eilish — who has previously mentioned how Bieber offered her guidance and friendship early in her career — shared an update on her emotional state following this highlight: “can’t stop crying,” she wrote in an Instagram Story on Sunday along with a picture of herself lying in bed with red-rimmed eyes.
