Titus Welliver has established himself as one of the best police procedural actors on television. He is best known for his role as Harry Bosch, which he has portrayed in three different shows — Bosch, Bosch: Legacy, and Ballard. Recently, he also appeared in the George R.R. Martin-produced supernatural Western, Dark Winds, which has been renewed for Season 5. Although Welliver’s leading days as Bosch may be behind him, he is always on the lookout for his next big project. He is collaborating with Oscar-winning star J.K. Simmons for a new crime thriller in development at Amazon, but unlike his Bosch series, it will not stream on Prime Video.
Welliver and Simmons are set to lead the new 1970s crime thriller show, The Westies, which is scheduled for release on MGM+ on July 12. As part of our Exclusive Preview Week here at Collider earlier this year, we unveiled one of the first official images from The Westies, featuring J.K. Simmons as Eamon Sweeney. The Westies was written and created for television by Chris Brancato and Michael Panes, the same duo behind Narcos and Narcos: Mexico, two of the biggest crime thrillers in Netflix’s history. Welliver’s extensive experience playing Harry Bosch will certainly be beneficial for The Westies, which aims to be one of the standout crime thriller shows of the year. Veteran from Daredevil: Born Again, Hamish Allan-Headley, will also star.
