It’s become one of Hollywood’s favorite things to take a massive video game franchise and turn it into something we can all sit down and watch, rather than play. But this next project is certainly one of the most ambitious yet, and now we know a lot more about what’s sure to be the biggest and loudest movie on 2028.
Director Peter Berg revealed during Fanatics Fest that the upcoming <em>Call of Duty</em> movie will be set in the Modern Warfare universe, answering at least one question fans had — so no Black Ops guns in space, and no World at War. The movie also reunites Berg with Taylor Sheridan, who is co-writing and producing the adaptation, after the pair previously collaborated on Hell or High Water and Wind River, while Paramount Pictures and Activision are producing the long-awaited video game movie. No cast members have yet been officially announced but would anyone be surprised to see a Mark Wahlberg type rock up?
The film will open in theatres on June 30, 2028.
