Discover Ryan Reynolds, Michael Bublé, and More at Canada’s World Cup Opening Ceremony
World Cup 2026 has officially arrived in Canada.
To mark the occasion, Canadian icons Alanis Morissette and Michael Bublé performed during the opening ceremony for their home country’s match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on June 12.
Dressed in a patriotic red jacket, Morissette, 52, delivered a breathtaking performance of “O Canada,” while a dapper Bublé, 50, sang a rendition of Sam Cooke‘s “Bring It On Home to Me,” accompanied by the Sole Power Choir, just before the players took the field.
In the audience, Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds was seen cheering for his home team.
Canada is one of three North American nations hosting this year’s soccer tournament. On June 11, Mexico kicked off the World Cup with a star-studded celebration featuring Shakira, Burna Boy, Salma Hayek Pinault, J Balvin, Andrea Bocelli, and Pop Demon Hunters singer EJAE, showcasing global unity.
The World Cup opening ceremony in the United States is set to occur later on June 12, with performances by Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Tyla, Dan + Shay, and Rema at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
