On day eight of Paris Fashion Week, Matthieu Blazy unveiled his first anniversary ready-to-wear collection at the helm of Chanel. Almost one whole year to the date, the French-Belgian designer presented his highly anticipated debut. Fast forward twelve months and we are back in the historic Grand Palais. Staged at dusk in the French capital, guests like Nicole Kidman, Dua Lipa, and Alexa Demie were seated in the front row. Models (including Blazy favorites Anne Vyalitsyna and Stephanie Cavalli) soon emerged from backstage and out into the vast set, decorated with a monumental canopy of golden birds suspended overhead. Mannish tailcoats, sheer-panelled tweed jackets, and shin-skimming coats glinting with deep-red sequins were on fine display, complete with Britney Spears on the soundtrack.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“The nightmare continues…” [liberty33r1b]
“I need to wash my eyes out with bleach after that.” [prylvi]
“Virginie [Viard] has to be laughing. The same unflattering, droopy, frumpy stuff.” [Caffeine]
“That was AWFUL. Such lavish sets for such ill-fitting, sloppy clothes. Not a single look was good and those horrid prints.” [disco54]
“Some looks feel unfinished, and others feel too much. There is no balance. I suppose with some styling adjustments, some would look good in the real world, but there is no oomph.” [wild roses]
“Looks the same as his other Chanel shows to me. There’s no identity between seasons.” [plentyofhorns]
“Already going in circles. Same silhouettes in every show, and he just changes the fabrics. Injects some heinous looks into the mix to ‘experiment’ and pretend it’s new.” [Thefrenchy]
“The strain on my face while watching this show has produced new wrinkles. I hate his work so much. They all look like 60s Christmas trees in Harrods. These are embellished sacks for sad rich women.” [Norden]
