A critically acclaimed cop drama that had the misfortune of airing amid insurmountable competition during the Golden Age of Television is finding new life on Netflix. The series aired from 2009 to 2013, pretty much overlapping with landmark shows such as Breaking Bad and Mad Men. It also ended the same year as Netflix debuted its first original series, House of Cards. All of this is to say that the series in question never quite settled in, and this became obvious as the seasons went by. It changed networks after a critically acclaimed but decidedly niche premiere season, and saw its budget being slashed with every passing installment. However, the series found a passionate audience during its original run, and it seems to be attracting new viewers on Netflix over a decade later.
According to FlixPatrol, it was among the most-watched shows on the global Netflix viewership charts this week, when the leaderboard was topped by the new British drama series The Witness. The Witness serves as a companion piece to the true-crime documentary film The Murder of Rachel Nickell, which debuted on Netflix last week. The cop drama outperformed the second season of The Four Seasons and the holdover hit Nemesis, while also pacing ahead of the Korean superhero breakout The WONDERfools. It did, however, trail the three-part Michael Jackson documentary, Michael Jackson: The Verdict.
