As the highly acclaimed hip-hop supergroup Deltron 3030 gears up to release their much-anticipated third album, they are set to take a nostalgic journey by performing their groundbreaking debut album in its entirety during their upcoming North American tour.
The iconic hip-hop collective, Deltron 3030, consisting of the talented rapper Del the Funky Homosapien (also known as Deltron Zero), innovative producer Dan the Automator (nicknamed the Cantankerous Captain Aptos), and skilled turntablist Kid Koala, is poised to return to the stage this summer. They will kick off a 16-date tour starting in Vancouver, BC on July 18, followed by a series of performances across the U.S. and Canada over the next three months, delighting fans with their unique sound and storytelling.
During this exciting tour, Kid Koala will take on dual roles, opening the shows alongside fellow artist Lealani, while the main attraction will be Deltron 3030, who will perform their self-titled debut album in its entirety. This immersive experience promises to be a memorable event for fans, bringing back the classic tracks that defined their early sound.
Originally released in May 2000, the album Deltron 3030 did not achieve massive commercial success, peaking at No. 194 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 18 on the Independent Albums chart. However, it gained critical acclaim for its innovative approach, blending sharp social commentary with humor and atmospheric beats that crafted narratives of a dystopian future in the year 3030. This conceptual album has since become a cult classic, resonating with listeners for its creativity and depth.
Following the release of their debut album, Deltron 3030 experienced a period of relative inactivity. However, they made a triumphant return in 2013 with a sequel project titled Event 2, which debuted at No. 41 on the Billboard 200 and reached No. 6 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. This resurgence led to a series of tours and performances, showcasing their enduring appeal and ability to captivate audiences.
As of now, the latest commercial release from the group is a live album aptly titled Live, released in 2016. Despite this, Deltron 3030 has hinted at the production of their third studio album in recent years. Along with the announcement of their upcoming tour, fans can anticipate that a new record is indeed in progress. Nevertheless, it appears that fans will need to wait until the conclusion of their live engagements before any new music or updates are announced.
