The New Pornographers have officially severed ties with drummer Joseph Seiders following his alarming arrest linked to child pornography charges. This shocking development has sent ripples through the music community, highlighting serious issues surrounding the safety of children and the responsibilities of public figures.
As reported by KESQ News Channel 3, the 44-year-old drummer was taken into custody for possession of child pornography after law enforcement received alarming complaints regarding two separate incidents occurring in the restroom of a Chick-Fil-A located in Palm Desert, California. These incidents raise significant concerns about public safety and the potential for such behaviors to occur in family-friendly environments.
The first incident was reported on April 7, when an 11-year-old boy informed authorities that an adult male recorded him while he was using the restroom facilities. Just two days later, a vigilant employee noticed a suspicious individual entering and exiting the restroom alongside minors, prompting immediate action from the police.
Responding to the latter report, law enforcement officials apprehended Seiders, who they suspect is the same individual involved in the earlier incident. This series of events emphasizes the critical importance of community vigilance in safeguarding children from potential harm.
Following his arrest, the Palm Desert Station Investigations Bureau executed search warrants for Seiders’ residence, vehicle, and cell phone, further investigating the allegations against him.

Consequently, Seiders faces serious charges, including possession of child pornography, annoying or molesting a child, invasion of privacy, and attempted invasion of privacy. These charges reflect the severe legal repercussions associated with such offenses, emphasizing the need for accountability.
