Eric Idle Has No Sympathy for Nick Reiner After Rob Reiner Murder

Following their deaths, Nick was taken into custody and was initially set to be represented by attorney Alan Jackson. However, Jackson left the case because Nick’s trustee was not able to pay him, according to court documents obtained by E! in June.

The document also noted that he was requesting a portion of his trust be given to him, claiming his parents left “unambiguous instructions” that part of the fund was to be paid out to him once he turned 30.

While the Being Charlie writer’s family—including siblings Jake Reiner, 35, and Romy Reiner, 28—had initially agreed to pay for Jackson, per the doc, “the anticipating funding did not materialize” and the attorney withdrew from the case.

“Nick loved his parents, and he is devastated by their deaths,” the petition read. “But the facts about what did and did not happen to them are not at issue in this Trust litigation. Like anyone accused of a crime, Nick is presumed innocent, and he is entitled to mount his defense with the resources that are lawfully his own.”
