Euphoria’s Streaming Sensation: Jenna Ortega’s 92-Minute Response

For better or for worse, one show is dominating HBO Max discourse right now: Euphoria. Sam Levinson‘s teen series has returned for a third installment that has left many stunned, others angry, and most talking, with its controversy inevitably helping the show rise through the streaming ranks. Starring the likes of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, and more, the series was once a big hit, only to somewhat ruin its reputation with this divisive return.

But Euphoria isn’t the only Hollywood star-led teen title currently hitting the HBO Max charts. With subscribers likely looking for solace in more grounded and less controversial teen stories, many have turned to an underrated 2021 effort starring one of the biggest young stars in Hollywood today. Led by Jenna Ortega in perhaps the most underappreciated role in her burgeoning career, The Fallout follows a high schooler who hopes to reinvent her image in the wake of tragedy.

Written and directed by Megan Park, who later delivered the coming-of-age gem My Old Ass, The Fallout (not to be confused with the hit Prime Video series) earned plenty of praise upon arrival in 2021. Scoring an impressive, “certified fresh” rating of 90% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, one critic wrote, “The Fallout is terrific, and terrifically real,” with another adding that it is “an urgent voice we need to listen to.” At the time of writing, The Fallout is the sixth-most-streamed movie on HBO Max in the U.S., a list topped by Sweeney and her 2025 box office flop Christy.
