Fallout fans are in the unenviable position of knowing that, while another game in the series is definitely on the way, it will likely be years before they actually get to play it. Much of that is thanks to The Elder Scrolls VI, which remains Bethesda’s focus for the time being, but that is scant consolation if the post-apocalypse remains your favorite haunt.
The best option in the meantime is simply to play the older games, and thankfully there are plenty of great options to fill the time while we wait for Fallout 5. The most recent effort is Fallout 4, and it’s easily one of the best games in the series, even if there are plenty of problems to grapple with along the way.
Happily, Bethesda is continuing to support the game while they work on developing the next one, and the latest update is a pretty important one if you’re a console player.
Over on Twitter/X, Bethesda shared a lengthy post on their official profile detailing a new update that’s set to expand Fallout 4 Creations Storage on console. The post reads as follows:
“We’re excited to share the Fallout 4 Creations storage expansion will arrive for consoles on May 27th. Console players will soon have more space to download content, including larger, more ambitious Creations. This update will allow for Creations storage on Xbox Series X|S to be scalable up to 100GB. PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox One will all have Creations storage increased from 1GB or 2GB respectively, to approximately 15GB.”
Before the update rolls out, it’s a good idea to either load into older saves that you haven’t played in a while or manually save your load order. This is in case of any potential overwrites, allowing you to redownload your entire Creations list easily at the same time after the update lands.
For console players, the storage limit for Creations has been far too low for some time, particularly considering just how keen Bethesda is to make players engage with the system. With new content arriving via the system all the time as well, players were having to become increasingly picky about what they have installed.
This update really does open the floodgates for you to transform your next game of Fallout 4 on console, and there are some genuinely brilliant Creations out there that are worth your consideration. In the meantime, let’s hope we at least get The Elder Scrolls VI before too long so the studio can really focus on getting Fallout 5 out as soon as possible.
