Appointed in October 2025, Maria Grazia Chiuri is now well and truly settled as Fendi creative director. To unveil her first couture offering, the Italian designer (formerly of Christian Dior) selected the city of Rome and unveiled the lineup at one of her favorite museums: the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. The show was concurrent with the opening of a reproduction of a 1985 exhibition on the brand conceived by Karl Lagerfeld. MGC drew inspiration from the late Karl Lagerfeld, moving away from the glitz and opulence typically associated with the world of haute couture. Instead, the designer directed the fashion crowd’s attention to technique and craftsmanship. Languorous silhouettes, flowing caftans, siren-y bias-cut long dresses, cloaks accompanied by flared leg trousers (all crafted in a neutral palette), and Art Deco flourishes reigned supreme throughout the collection.

“This is even sadder than her Dior, which is an immense feat, considering how dour that was.” [LadyJunon]
“One thing about MGC: she WILL insist on giving you absolutely NOTHING. Ever. If at least, she did boring clothes but had a strong cast. But even her casting choices are beige.” [Thefrenchy]
“Is couture in the room with us?” [prylvi]
“I am possibly one of MGC’s biggest haters, but I have to say this didn’t offend me. I think she’s way better for an Italian brand than for Dior. This feels very Roman, very elegant. Possibly the best Fendi show since my beloved Karl died.” [Creative]
“Exquisite collection. Truly exquisite. It’s very intrinsically Fendi and very much a tribute to the heritage. The precision of these clothes is really something else; I am thinking that white/ivory double-faced cashmere cape and dress in particular which is divine.” [Frederic01]
“Wow! This collection is absolutely stunning in its minimalist approach. I love so many of the looks. I would wear them if I could. It is my favorite couture collection of the season.” [MModa]
