While we’re all waiting for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, there’s been no shortage of FF7-related content. This includes both official releases and fan-made projects. Whether it’s FF7 Rebirth arriving on Switch 2 next month, or a new look for Cloud in Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, we’ve had plenty to tide us over until the next installment in the remake trilogy arrives, even if the wait feels like a long one.
Now, thanks to Final Fantasy 7: Heroes of Midgar, we have something additional to look forward to. The project, which is currently live on Kickstarter, will be the debut album of the Eikon String Quartet and focuses on the character themes of FF7. You can watch a video of the Nashville-based quartet playing the “Main Theme of Final Fantasy VII” below:
The quartet includes Lucia Nowik on violin, Francesca Bass on violin, Anthony Parce on viola, and Andrew Dunn on cello. The project is currently about 50% funded, with 23 days left to go to reach its $12,000 goal. If you back the project, you can get a number of cool rewards, ranging from the digital album for a $10 pledge to physical CDs, signed items, and PDFs of the score for higher tiers.
This seems like a really cool project, and FF7 already has some amazing music, which is probably why music is an integral part of the remakes, including in-game jukeboxes and Cloud’s piano playing mini-game in FF7 Rebirth. For $15, you can get both a physical and digital copy of the Final Fantasy 7: Heroes of Midgar album, which seems like a good deal.
It’s a pretty nice time to be a Final Fantasy 7 fan, whether you prefer the original or the remakes. Square Enix has announced a number of releases this year for the games — from art books to clothing to figures. And with FF7 Rebirth arriving on the Switch 2 soon, a large Nintendo audience will be able to experience the second installment in the trilogy next month.
It’s great to see fan projects like Final Fantasy 7: Heroes of Midgar as well. More FF7 always feels like a good thing, and it certainly feels like it helps alleviate the wait we’ve had for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. Hopefully, the Eikon String Quartet will reach their goal in the upcoming weeks. And, hopefully, we’ll get to see more about this third installment from Square Enix soon.
