The highly anticipated release of Thunderbolts* is drawing near, and Marvel Studios has just unveiled the final trailer, which you can view above! The film is projected to have a domestic opening weekend of approximately million, which, while lower than Captain America: Brave New Worldâs impressive $88 million opening, might not tell the whole story. Thereâs a palpable sense that Thunderbolts* could have staying power at the box office, especially given its intriguing premise and strong character lineup. This film certainly appears to have significant potential to captivate audiences and generate buzz.
Thunderbolts* centers on a fascinating group of characters: Yelena Belova, portrayed by the talented Florence Pugh, alongside Bucky Barnes played by Sebastian Stan, Red Guardian portrayed by David Harbour, John Walker played by Wyatt Russell, Ghost represented by Hannah John-Kamen, and Taskmaster played by Olga Kurylenko. These characters are compelled to join forces on a perilous mission that promises tension and excitement. Additionally, Lewis Pullman joins the cast as Bob, a character with superhuman abilities, known as The Sentry. Notably, the brilliant Julia Louis-Dreyfus reprises her role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who appears to be orchestrating events from behind the scenes, adding to the film’s complexity.
The visual representation of the Void’s powers in the film is particularly captivating, showcasing a unique ability to envelop individuals in shadows. This striking imagery not only enhances the film’s aesthetic but also deepens the narrative’s engagement, leaving viewers eager for more insights into these supernatural abilities.
A recent clip from Thunderbolts* showcased Yelena performing an exhilarating stunt by leaping from the top of the Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was a daring feat that Florence Pugh insisted on executing herself. She revealed, âI got on all the emails. It was in the script, and then slowly as we got closer and closer to shooting, they said they donât think itâs going to happen because itâs a crazy insurance ordeal and obviously weâre not going to throw [me] off the second tallest building in the world,â Pugh explained. âI was like what the f*ck? Of course we are! We have to do that.â
Pugh elaborated, âI was being a sassy Karen emailing Kevin [Feige] and saying itâs going to do wonders for the press tour. We have to do this! Weâre going to have three women break three different Guinness World Records and weâll do this and this. I had to keep on pushing and then theyâre like, âOkay, if you want to fall off the second tallest building, weâll figure it out for you.â I donât mind heights. I quite like them and enjoy them, but that was a whole different ballgame and insane. The mental control I had to do that day was its own super power.â
