One of Fox‘s most popular and longest-running comedies is getting another season, with the company confirming that Season 5 of the show was in the works.
Which Fox comedy has been renewed for a fifth season?
Animal Control, the workplace comedy centering around a group of local animal control workers and stars Joel McHale, will be back for a fifth season. Deadline reports that the show has been considered a “shoo-in” for renewal due to not only its success, but the fact that it is owned, produced, and distributed by Fox itself.
The show has also been a massive success in the world of streaming. According to Deadline’s report, Animal Control’s time on Netflix has been super successful. The first three seasons of the show have garnered over 1 billion minutes watched, making it the streamer’s top comedy series in total viewers and third in total minutes watched, behind only Young Sheldon and Seinfeld.
“With the writing, ensemble, and audience response all landing at new levels, renewing Animal Control was an easy decision,” said Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network. “The series launched to new highs in its fourth season, which is a direct reflection of the show’s continued creative growth, outstanding producing team, and the incredible Joel McHale as our lead.”
Animal Control was created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg, and Dan Sterling. Alongside McHale, the show also stars Vella Lovell, Michael Rowland, Ravi V. Patel, and Grace Palmer. The fourth season of the show is currently airing on Fox, with three episodes remaining.
