New week, new free games available for you to download and play on Steam. Despite recent hardware price increases, gaming on a budget is arguably easier than ever if you know where to look and are willing to explore more unique indie games instead of the usual AAA titles.
The latest free games on Steam may not be as well-known as 007 First Light or LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, but there are some real gems worth checking out. June 2026 has been no exception. While your backlog may be overwhelming, let’s add four more new games to the mix. Why? Because they’re free, and free is always good.
As of now, there are four new free games available for download and retention on Steam. These are complete games, not restricted by any subscription or paywall. While I can’t guarantee hundreds of hours of gameplay, you might find enjoyment in one or two of them.
The first game is 67 Minutes In Heaven, a 10-minute horror experience designed to create discomfort. “Your neighbor invites you on a double date, setting you up with the new girl from out of town,” the synopsis states. “After sneaking into an abandoned house, your neighbor suggests everyone play a game, 67 Minutes in Heaven.”
If horror isn’t your thing, consider checking out Nexus Legacy. This sci-fi strategy game allows you to colonize worlds, manage resources, research technologies, command fleets, forge alliances, and battle for control of a living galaxy. It has only been released for a few days, but user reviews have been largely positive.
If you’re looking to join in on the World Cup excitement, try out Goalkeeper Journey. The premise is straightforward: you play as a goalkeeper trying to prevent opponents from scoring. It’s simple yet serves as a decent time killer.
Lastly, we have the fantasy RPG Eterspire, which stands out as the most substantial offering this month. “Eterspire is a cozy old-school MMORPG where skill and dedication define your progression,” explains the developer Stonehollow Workshop. “Grind for gear, explore the vibrant world of Aetera, discover new content every two weeks, and join a growing, welcoming community in a free-to-play MMO with PC and mobile crossplay.”
In summary, if you have Steam and some spare time, checking out these games could be worthwhile.
