Netflix is enhancing its upcoming thriller The Big Fix with significant star power. According to Deadline, Natalie Dormer has officially joined the project alongside Susan Lynch and Gabriel Leone. Mark Wahlberg and Riz Ahmed, known for his role in Venom, are also part of the ensemble. Filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur is directing, while Guy Bolton and Justin Haythe are crafting the screenplay. Production responsibilities are being managed by Peter Chernin and David Ready through Chernin Entertainment, with Kormákur and Samantha Nisenboim also producing the film.
The thriller draws inspiration from real-life events and adapts Brett Forrest’s book into a globe-trotting crime narrative. The story follows a former Interpol investigator who now holds a desk job at FIFA, only to uncover a vast match-fixing network operating behind the scenes of international football. As he begins to investigate further, the situation quickly escalates, pulling him into a high-stakes chase linked to organized crime, rigged matches, and corruption spanning multiple countries.
According to project details, the central conflict revolves around a fixer associated with Chinese Triads who profits from manipulating matches globally. The film is characterized as a globe-trotting thriller centered on a tense pursuit between two determined men on opposite sides of the scandal. Bennett Walsh, Chris Eaton, and Jenno Topping are also involved as executive producers.
Dormer is best known worldwide for her portrayal of Margaery Tyrell in HBO’s Game of Thrones, a role that established her as one of the series’ breakout stars. She also appeared in The Hunger Games films as Cressida and has continued to balance television and film projects in recent years. Her recent credits include Audrey’s Children and The Wasp. She is also set to feature in Netflix’s upcoming Extraction series.
