“We never anticipated the success of the Netflix movies emerging,” Daniel remarked regarding the four-part revival that made its debut nine years after the original series concluded. “Our creative minds are always buzzing with ideas for Stars Hollow, as anything that embodies quirky American culture inspires us to infuse it into the Stars Hollow narrative. However, at this moment, we don’t have any definitive plans.”
Despite the passing years, the couple has preserved a strong connection with the talented cast from the beloved early 2000s series. This enduring bond is evident both on-screen and off-screen, particularly with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Luke Kirby featuring prominently in their latest dance-themed dramedy alongside familiar faces from Gilmore Girls such as Yanic Truesdale, Kelly Bishop, and Dakin Matthews. It’s a testament to the lasting impact of their collaborations in the entertainment industry.
“We strive to maintain a close-knit relationship with our casts,” Daniel elaborated. “Our passion for actors and the art of performance drives us. While it may not be the case for everyone in our field, our affection for actors is profound.”
“This passion is what led us to pursue directing,” he added. “Initially, we began our journey as writers, but we gradually transitioned into directing—not only to safeguard our material but also because we desired to engage directly with actors. We wanted to immerse ourselves in the creative process rather than remain on the sidelines while others experienced the joy of creation.”
