“I genuinely believe that words hold power,” he stated during an intense back-and-forth with one of the podcast hosts.
“You simply cannot make jokes that incite hate. History has taught us the dangerous paths that can lead to,” he continued, emphasizing the importance of responsible speech.
However, as the conversation progressed, he took aim at Greta’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza, as reported by Mediaite.
Greta Thunberg is currently aboard the Madleen, a vessel operated by the activist organization Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which recently set sail from Catania, Sicily, in southern Italy. The coalition’s mission is to deliver essential aid and to raise global awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, involving activists from various countries.
The ship is loaded with crucial medical supplies and aims to breach the Israeli naval blockade that has been constraining the movement of goods and people in and out of Gaza since 2007. In a tasteless remark, Portnoy ridiculed Greta and her mission, making a profane and violent comment.
Following a joke made by one of the hosts about Jewish control of the media, Dave commented that they were not performing their duties adequately.
“It’s absurd, honestly. If we’re being truthful, this is something I also have on my mind. Jews control the media. It’s like, well, we’re not executing that well right now. You’re messing it up,” he remarked.
He wrapped up his rant by stating, “I’ll jump on Greta van Thorsten or whatever her name is – she’s out there sailing. Like whoever that is – and I hope they hit her boat with a missile. Bring that boat down. Greta or whatever her name is.”
