For four decades, the notorious band GWAR has been stranded on Earth, but with the rise of privatized space travel spearheaded by influential entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, they may finally seize the chance to return to their home planet. This opportunity represents a thrilling possibility for the band, which has long yearned for an escape from their earthly confinement.
Currently, the Scumdogs of GWAR are celebrating their monumental 40th anniversary with an electrifying tour and have even resurrected their legendary dinosaur character, Gor Gor, from extinction. The shows promise the usual chaotic and visceral experience that fans have come to love. We caught up with the iconic band members, Blothar the Berserker, Grodius Maximus, and Beefcake the Mighty, at the Sonic Temple Festival during their first performance of 2025.
During our encounter, we uncovered a wealth of information, including an exclusive insight into what Grodius desires in a male partner — a scoop you won’t want to miss!

Our curiosity led us to question whether Musk, a figure known for his intense fixation on aliens—which GWAR certainly embodies—had offered any of his rockets for their potential escape from this planet. Blothar was somewhat dismissive of the world’s richest man, stating, “He is trans-human. He’s trying not to be human. That I can respect,” highlighting one redeeming quality about Musk.
Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos, the head of Amazon, recently launched pop star Katy Perry into space aboard one of his rockets. However, these passengers experience only a fleeting glimpse of the cosmos, rather than embarking on a true interstellar journey. Blothar likens this brief experience to visiting Busch Gardens in the U.S. with the hope of eventually traveling to Europe, emphasizing the superficiality of the adventure.

“You’d think Bezos could confront Trump more directly, but he doesn’t. I’m baffled by why these wealthy individuals seem to enjoy each other’s company when I thought they were rivals. But honestly, let’s leave Katy Perry alone; I have my own desires,” Blothar quips, breaking down into tears while humorously lamenting, “I’m a little girl” after a playful challenge to “name three songs.”
In a surprising twist, Grodius openly identifies as gay when we mention Perry‘s hit song “I Kissed a Girl.” When queried about his last kiss with a woman, he reveals that he is “exclusively into dudes,” sharing some of the qualities he finds appealing in a man, seemingly expressing an attraction to his bandmate, Blothar.

Exciting Developments for GWAR in 2025
The year 2025 is set to be incredibly busy for GWAR as they kick off their much-anticipated 40th anniversary tour alongside Static-X on Saturday, May 24.
In addition to their tour, the band is preparing to unveil a new multimedia release that will feature fresh music alongside a companion comic book. Titled The Return of Gor Gor, this exciting project includes three brand-new songs, four exhilarating live tracks, and a captivating 32-page comic book crafted in collaboration with Z2 Comics.
Regarding their latest single, Blothar enthusiastically states, “‘Lot Lizard’ marks a powerful return of GWAR as a formidable punk metal powerhouse infused with humor. What could possibly be more entertaining than a song about a crack-addicted, cross-dressing dinosaur prostitute who causes chaos at truck stop pickle parks? Nothing, honey. That’s what. The song rocks! Listen up, you mooks…”
