Emmy Award nominees Carrie Coon (known for her roles in The Gilded Age and The White Lotus) and Lily James (famous for her performance in Pam and Tommy) have officially been selected to portray the leading characters in the highly anticipated cult thriller film Harmonia, as reported by Variety. This exciting new project is helmed by the Oscar-winning director Guy Nattiv, renowned for his work on Golda. Their casting announcement follows Bleecker Street‘s successful acquisition of the U.S. distribution rights, with the movie set to hit theaters in 2026, promising a gripping cinematic experience for audiences.
The narrative of Harmonia draws inspiration from the harrowing experiences endured by Nattiv’s grandmother, shedding light on the dark realities of an insidious cult. Joining Coon and James in the cast are previously announced talents Bella Ramsey (from The Last of Us) and Odessa Young (star of Mothering Sunday). Nattiv will be directing the film from a screenplay he co-authored with Noa Berman-Herzberg, with production anticipated to commence this summer, elevating expectations for a gripping and thought-provoking film.

Set against the backdrop of the 1980s, Harmonia follows the journey of Rita (portrayed by Coon), who, while grappling with her own emotional scars, encounters a charismatic young spiritual leader (played by James) during a serendipitous meeting. Drawn into the mysterious all-female commune known as Harmonia, Rita abandons her previous life and family, only for her daughters, Ella (Ramsey) and Jo (Young), to embark on a perilous mission to rescue their mother. The official synopsis reveals that as they delve deeper into the commune, they become increasingly entangled in the leader’s intricate web of pseudo-spiritual beliefs and psychological manipulation.
The production of Harmonia is being led by producers Julia Lebedev and Eddie Vaisman for Sight Unseen, alongside Jaime Ray Newman and Nattiv for New Native Pictures, with Oren Moverman also involved in the project. Additionally, Leonid Lebedev will serve as an executive producer. This film represents Nattiv’s latest partnership with Bleecker Street, following their collaboration on the critically acclaimed film Golda in 2023.
