Hawkeye Season 2: Jeremy Renner Says “My Body’s Getting Ready”

The last time Jeremy Renner discussed his potential return to portray Hawkeye in a second season of the popular Disney+ series, he expressed his frustration with Marvel’s accounting department, telling them to “go fly a kite” after they offered him half of his previous earnings. However, in a recent interview with Empire, the actor revealed his enthusiasm for rejoining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), indicating that he feels physically prepared to engage in the demanding action sequences associated with the role once again.

Renner stated, “I’m always happy to be in that world, man. I love all those guys, I love the character,” demonstrating his passion for both the series and its characters. He further added, “I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2, and do other things. And I’m happy to do it. My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.” His comments reflect not only his willingness to return but also his ongoing commitment to maintaining his fitness and appearance for the role of Hawkeye, a character beloved by fans.

As many fans are aware, Renner was involved in a serious accident on January 1, 2023, when his Sno-Cat tragically ran him over. The incident resulted in severe injuries, including blunt chest trauma and a staggering count of 38 broken bones. Despite these life-threatening injuries, the actor has shown remarkable resilience and determination, making an impressive recovery and returning to work on the third season of Mayor of Kingstown within just a year.

When asked whether he could perform one of Hawkeye’s iconic moves from The Avengers, which involves leaping into the air, twisting, and shooting an arrow with remarkable precision, Renner confidently replied, “Absolutely. No problem. That’s where I’m at. I’m more than 150 per cent of what I was prior to the incident.” This statement not only highlights his recovery but also his unwavering dedication to the character and the physical demands of the role.

Earlier this year, Brad Winderbaum, the head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel, expressed a strong desire for another season of Hawkeye. He remarked, “Hawkeye is another one that feels like you can make a second season of that show because it’s Christmas, because it’s Clint and Kate,” indicating the potential for the series to explore heartwarming themes and character dynamics. Winderbaum continued, “You can kind of revisit it whenever, and we’re looking for opportunities to do that. But as we develop things for the future, I think they’re going to be designed to be multiple seasons, have more of a pattern, and be able to be released annually.” His vision for the show suggests an exciting future for fans of the franchise.

While Marvel may not have always maximized the potential of Hawkeye as a character, many fans, including myself, are eager to see Renner reprise his role in the future. His dedication to the character and his impressive recovery story resonate with audiences, making the prospect of a return not only exciting but also meaningful.
