I Prevail Announces Split with Brian Burkheiser

I Prevail has officially announced the separation from their co-vocalist, Brian Burkheiser, through a heartfelt statement shared on social media today, May 15. This marks a significant change for the band, which was formed in 2013. Burkheiser has been integral to the band’s sound, providing clean vocals alongside Eric Vanlerberghe. The announcement described this split as a “difficult decision,” yet emphasized that it was an “amicable” parting.

Moving forward, Eric Vanlerberghe will take on the full vocal responsibilities, while guitarist Dylan Bowman will lend his voice for supporting vocals. The band recently performed at the Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio, and their next scheduled show is set for this Saturday at Welcome to Rockville.

To Our I Prevail Family

Today, we share the news that we are mutually parting ways with Brian Burkheiser. This was a challenging decision, but we firmly believe it is the right one. We are all grateful for the incredible ten years we spent together. We wish Brian nothing but success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Looking ahead, Eric will continue to be the powerhouse frontman you’ve come to know and love. He will be supported live by Dylan, who has filled this role at many shows over the years when Brian was unavailable. Rest assured, we will keep delivering the high-energy performances that have become a hallmark of our band, and we will continue to play all the hit songs from our extensive catalogue. All scheduled performances will proceed as planned.

Exciting new music is on the horizon…

We look forward to seeing you out there.

Brian Burkheiser’s Absence from I Prevail’s 2024 Tour

In May 2024, I Prevail announced that Brian Burkheiser would be absent from their upcoming tour due to a necessary medical procedure. During this time, Eric Vanlerberghe and Dylan Bowman will take over the vocal duties. In a candid post on his personal social media account, Burkheiser revealed he had undergone several surgeries to address a medical condition known as Eagle Syndrome.

He expressed, “If I’m being honest, this disease has significantly impacted my life over the past few years. I suspected something was amiss dating back to 2018, but it wasn’t until recently that I discovered the actual issue.” This illness has affected his ability to perform, prompting the band to adapt.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Eagle syndrome is characterized by “atypical structures” in the head and neck, which can lead to severe pain in the face or throat, affecting normal vocal performance. Burkheiser was present for I Prevail’s summer 2024 shows, marking a triumphant return. He and his wife, Caylin, also welcomed a baby boy earlier this January.

At this point, it remains uncertain if Burkheiser’s medical issues played a role in his departure from I Prevail. Regardless, Loudwire extends its best wishes to both him and the band as they navigate this transition.
