Giuliana Rancic is not going to oversee the red carpet.
This is why the Fashion Police alum—who dedicated 20 years to covering award shows, premieres, and various celebrity events for E! before her departure in 2021—is receptive to the increasing trend of influencers acting as red carpet correspondents.
“It’s not about whether you have a journalism degree or have worked in smaller markets and climbed your way up, or if you began with a YouTube channel or an Instagram account,” Giuliana exclusively shared with E! News during a joint interview with her husband Bill Rancic. “I genuinely believe it comes down to the personality, the individual.”
She further stated, “It entirely depends on your personality and how you engage with people, both the individual you’re interviewing and the audience watching you.”
However, the former E! News host also recognizes the resistance to this trend. As she clarified, red carpet coverage demands significant preparation as well.
“I was always very prepared,” she mentioned. “I was doing news every day—I was naturally immersed in it all the time—so I knew every movie, every TV show, every celebrity because I was interviewing them throughout the year.”
