Collider is thrilled to unveil an exclusive new image from The Westies, the forthcoming MGM+ series featuring J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, Spider-Man). The image depicts Simmons, portraying Eamon Sweeney, seated behind a desk in a dimly lit office, embodying a man who has heard every excuse before and accepted none. Set in the early 1980s during the construction boom around the Jacob Javits Convention Center, The Westies chronicles the real-life Irish-American gang that, despite being vastly outnumbered by the Five Families of the Italian mafia, carved out a deadly niche through cunning, brutality, and sheer determination. However, internal tensions within the gang threaten to spark a turf war just as the FBI focuses on the mob underworld.
