Jay Electronica Releases 2 New Projects in Ongoing Music Spree

Jay Electronica, who for years frustrated fans with his lack of output, is suddenly dropping music left and right.

Soon after releasing his long-lost album Act II: Act II: The Patents of Nobility (The Turn) and A Written Testimony: Leaflets late last week, the Roc Nation rapper continued the flood over the weekend with two further projects.

A Written Testimony: Power at the Rate of My Dreams features five new songs — including a collaboration with Westside Gunn and Hit-Boy that is sure to pique the attention of even the most indifferent Jay Elec fan.

Mars, The Inhabited Planet — which also falls under Jay’s A Written Testimony series — clocks in at a slightly more generous eight tracks, with a sole guest appearance coming from singer PYT Joyce.

Much like his aforementioned projects, these latest efforts are littered with audio samples and dialogue that reflect Jay Electronica’s religious, political, and conspiracy theorist beliefs. Some might say they take up too much of the airtime.

Some of the song titles are pretty explosive, too, like “CNN & BBC Are Liars,” while it’s hard to tell if “@RealCandaceO… Tell Us More!” is in support of or opposition to the controversial right-wing pundit Candace Owens (who will be familiar to Kanye West fans).

Either way, Jay Electronica dropping four projects in one week is one of the biggest surprises of the year — and having rapped about giving his label boss JAY-Z “19 albums in one day,” who knows how many more he might have up his sleeve.
