During the chat, Joe revealed that “Work It Out” was initially meant for a Jonas Brothers album, however he had felt a stronger private connection to the monitor.

“I was listening to it, and I was like, ‘Damn, I really like this song,’ and starting to feel like I don’t know why, but I want this song for myself — not just the Brothers — and I also feel like it’s not DNCE, which is another band I’m in,” Joe defined.

Determined to observe his instincts, Joe sought his brothers’ approval.

“I asked my brothers’ blessings, and I was like, hey, I wanna go work on — I don’t wanna call it solo, but I want to go do something on my own, and I don’t feel like it’s DNCE, and I need to go just express some stuff for myself. And they’re like, ‘Go for it.’ Nick booked a movie. Kevin was going to do another season of Claim To Fame, and so I had a window of time, and I locked myself away.”

The results of that locked-away interval is a deeply private album crafted in simply two to three weeks. Joe collaborated with a powerful lineup of artists, together with Alexander 23, Muna’s Josette Maskin, Jason Evigan, Tommy English, and Paris Carney. Reflecting on the expertise, Joe described it as “the most personal music I’ve ever put out.”

Joe gave followers a style of the tune’s inspiring refrain on Therapuss, singing, “Get up, get up, get up, get up / What are you whining about? / No, nobody’s gonna save you now / No, nobody’s gonna pull you out / Brush your shoulders off.”

It’s been 13 years since he launched his solo album, Fast Life, which featured the Chris Brown-penned “See No More”, which peaked at No. 92 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the LP peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200.

Though he hasn’t introduced an actual launch date for the album, Joe talked about it will be out “later this year,” with extra tracks set to drop earlier than the total launch.
