John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band’s Bruce Springsteen Boost

John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, renowned rock musicians known for their authentic bar-band vibes, have made a triumphant comeback with Sound of Waves, their first studio album featuring all-new tracks in an impressive 37 years. This exciting release brings back memories of their chart-topping hit “On the Dark Side,” which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, showcasing their enduring legacy and talent in the music industry.

The journey of John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band has been a remarkable and unpredictable experience filled with musical evolution and resilience.

Originally known as Beaver Brown, the band achieved significant recognition during the 1970s in various rock venues along the East Coast, from Narragansett in Cafferty’s home state of Rhode Island to New Haven, Connecticut, where they became a staple at the iconic Toad’s Place. They also frequently performed at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, sharing the stage with Bruce Springsteen, who often jammed alongside them, fostering a deep artistic camaraderie.

Reflecting on their legacy, Cafferty reveals that after hearing a greatest hits compilation released by the band in 2022, Bruce Springsteen encouraged him to explore new songwriting opportunities. “Bruce reached out to me a few years back,” Cafferty recalls. “He was riding around listening to several of our tracks and believed I should take another shot at writing new material.” This encouragement from a fellow rock legend reignited Cafferty’s passion for creating fresh music.

The band, having consistently toured throughout the decades, has announced an exciting series of summer performances in 2023, kicking off with a supporting role for Rick Springfield on the I Want The ’80s Tour, beginning on May 28 in Clearwater, Florida. They are also set to perform at the North to Shore Festival in Asbury Park on June 27 and have a full schedule of shows planned through the remainder of the year, much to the delight of their dedicated fan base.
