John Corabi expresses his disappointment over the lack of communication with Nikki Sixx.
Corabi famously led Motley Crue during one of the band’s most challenging periods, stepping in for Vince Neil from 1992 to 1996. The rise of grunge left hair metal bands struggling to keep their fanbase, putting Corabi in the difficult position of replacing a legendary frontman.
Corabi’s only album with the Crue, the self-titled release from 1994, was a commercial failure. Nevertheless, in a recent discussion with This Day In Metal, he stated that he has no regrets about how events unfolded.

“I appreciate the opportunity that Motley Crue provided me,” the singer remarked. “And to be completely honest, I know — no one knows better than I do — that had I not been in Motley Crue, I’m not saying I wouldn’t have had a career, but it certainly helped me reach this point.”
John Corabi Says He Shouldn’t Have Gotten ‘Emotionally Attached’ to Motley Crue
Corabi admitted he dislikes being labeled as a “journeyman,” arguing that his brief time in Motley Crue and other bands was merely a matter of luck. “None of it was me saying, ‘F— you, guys. I’m out. I’m leaving. I’m gonna go do something.’ It was just the way things turned out for me.”
The rocker further revealed that the most challenging aspect of being let go from Motley Crue was losing the close friendships he had developed with his bandmates.

“I felt like I was losing three friends,” he admitted, adding that he still keeps in touch with some former bandmates. “I still occasionally talk to Tommy [Lee]. I still occasionally talk to Mick [Mars]. Nikki [Sixx] and I have no communication at all. And it, to some extent, kind of bums me out a little bit.”
If given the opportunity, Corabi mentioned he would advise his pre-Crue self, “Don’t become so emotionally attached to anything… If you’re going to be here, do your job, make the best of it, and move on.”
