Arrow Video, a prominent division of Arrow Films, specializes in the distribution of horror and cult films across various formats, including DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K. The company recently announced an exciting lineup of new titles set for release this July. Fans will be thrilled to see iconic films such as the Sylvester Stallone classic Cobra, the cult favorite The Stuff directed by Larry Cohen, and the infamous Lucio Fulci horror flick, Zombie. Let’s delve into the details of these thrilling upcoming releases:
The announcement kicked off with the eagerly awaited double feature Blu-ray collection featuring acclaimed director Ole Bornedal’s films, Nightwatch and Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever. This collection is a must-have for fans of gripping thrillers and Nordic Noir.
Before the Nordic Noir genre captivated audiences with acclaimed series like The Killing and The Bridge, writer-director Ole Bornedal had already established it with his groundbreaking film Nightwatch. This unforgettable thriller served as the breakout film for actors Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known for his role in Game of Thrones, and Kim Bodnia from Pusher. The film follows law student Martin (Coster-Waldau), who takes a job as a night watchman at a morgue to support his studies amidst a wave of gruesome murders in Copenhagen. As he navigates his new responsibilities and his friendship with the reckless Jens (Bodnia), the tension strains his relationship with his girlfriend Kalinka (Sofie Gråbøl, known for The Killing). When Inspector Wörmer (Ulf Pilgaard, Borgen) begins to suspect Martin may be involved in the killings, he must race against time to uncover the real murderer and clear his name. Set three decades later, Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever follows Martin’s daughter Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal, The Bridge), who works nights at the same morgue to uncover the dark history that haunts her family. As new murders echo the past, Martin must confront his trauma alongside Emma to prevent history from repeating itself. These films are rich in suspense and feature captivating performances, making Nightwatch and Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever essential viewing for aficionados of Nordic Noir and thriller films alike.
