Kevin Hart’s $875M Comedy Leaves Netflix Soon

A $875 million blockbuster comedy movie starring Kevin Hart will exit Netflix within weeks. When it first came out in 2016, the feature also received strong reviews from critics.

The Secret Life of Pets is leaving Netflix next month

The Secret Life of Pets will leave Netflix on August 1, 2026. Movies like There’s Something About Mary, The Glass House, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, and A Million Ways To Die In The West are also leaving the platform on the same date (via What’s on Netflix).

Chris Renaud (Despicable Me) directed The Secret Life of Pets from a script by Brian Lynch, Cinco Paul, and Ken Daurio. Hart voiced a white rabbit named Snowball in the movie.

The star-studded cast also includes Louis C.K. as Max, Eric Stonestreet as Duke, Jenny Slate as Gidget, Ellie Kemper as Katie, Lake Bell as Chloe, Dana Carvey as Pops, Hannibal Buress as Buddy, Bobby Moynihan as Mel, Steve Coogan as Ozone, Albert Brooks as Tiberius, and Renaud as Norman.

As mentioned above, the movie was a massive box-office hit, earning $875 million against a $75 million production budget (via Box Office Mojo). It currently has a 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Todd Jorgenson of Cinemalogue gave the movie a positive review.

“The animal antics (plus the nonstop mayhem crammed into every frame) are likely to please children, while some of the sight gags and one-liners will satisfy their accompanying adults,” Jorgenson wrote. “The animated urban cityscape is colorful and crisply detailed, and the voice cast is endearing.”

Illumination Entertainment, the company behind the Despicable Me franchise, produced The Secret Life of Pets. Its success led to the development of a sequel. The Secret Life of Pets 2 was released in 2019 and grossed a little over $431 million worldwide. Notably, C.K. didn’t voice Max in the sequel, and Patton Oswalt replaced him.
