What Has Megadeth’s Dave Previously Stated About His Farewell Plans?
In mid-August, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth shared his intentions. His statement included:
There are many musicians who reach the end of their careers, whether by accident or choice. Most do not get to conclude on their own terms while on top, and that is where I find myself now. I have traveled the world and gained millions of fans, and the most challenging part of this is saying goodbye to them.
We eagerly await for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there was ever a perfect moment for us to release a new album, it is now. If there was ever a perfect moment to tour the world, it is now. This is also the perfect moment for us to inform you that this is our last studio album. We have made many friends over the years and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Do not be angry or sad; be happy for us all and come celebrate with me in these next few years. We have accomplished something truly wonderful together that may never happen again. We started a musical style, initiated a revolution, changed the guitar world and how it is played, and altered the world. The bands I have played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.
