Netflix has released the trailer for its Michael Jackson docuseries just as the King of Pop biopic dominates the box office. The three-part series revisits a controversial 2005 trial through the eyes of those who were in the courtroom.
Michael Jackson: The Verdict arrives on Netflix soon
Netflix’s Michael Jackson: The Verdict will premiere on June 3, 2026, as confirmed in the official trailer released on the platform’s YouTube channel.
The three-part docuseries will analyze the trial of Michael Jackson and his complex legacy. Key figures who were present in the courtroom narrate the story throughout the series.
Prosecutors charged Jackson with allegedly molesting 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo at his Neverland Ranch during the 2005 trial. Jackson denied all accusations against him throughout the legal proceedings. A jury ultimately acquitted him on all counts in the case.
The trailer opens with real footage of police searching Jackson’s property alongside broadcast news clips. A courtroom witness states in the preview, “He’s the most famous man in the world being accused of the most heinous crime in the world.” The two-minute, 30-second video also features interviews with Jackson’s lawyers and a jury member.
Jackson himself appears at the trailer’s conclusion, speaking directly to the camera. He says, “Please keep an open mind and let me have my day in court.”
The docuseries arrives amid renewed public interest in Jackson following the biopic film Michael. The movie launched with $97 million domestically and $217 million globally during its opening weekend. That debut broke the musical biopic box office record previously held by Bohemian Rhapsody.
Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s real-life nephew, stars in the biopic as the legendary performer. The film charts Jackson’s life from his Jackson 5 beginnings through his 1987 Bad tour. However, the movie ends abruptly in 1988, leaving two decades of his life unexplored onscreen.
Channel 4 also released its own documentary about the trial titled Michael Jackson: The Trial earlier this year. No confirmation exists yet regarding a biopic sequel covering Jackson’s later life and legal troubles.
