Michelle Obama Enjoys Evening with Daughters Malia and Sasha

Sasha Obama Makes Rare Appearance With Parents Barack, Michelle Obama at NBA All-Star Game

It’s a ladies’ night fit for a former First Lady.

Shortly after Mother’s Day, Malia Obama, 27, and Sasha Obama, 24, brought their mom Michelle Obama to Funke Restaurant for a rare outing in Los Angeles on May 11.

The crew kept the vibes casual, with Michelle sporting distressed jeans, a sage green trucker jacket, and an olive green suede top-handle bag. Meanwhile, Malia donned a knee-length floral dress with black boots and Sasha opted for a denim-on-denim ensemble.

Although the mother and daughters shared a sweet dinner together, Michelle has been open about navigating the “empty nester” life with her husband and former president Barack Obama recently.

Now that both Malia and Sasha have graduated college—from Harvard University in 2021 and the University of Southern California in 2023, respectively—Michelle said that she and Barack were navigating a “new phase” of life.

“My husband did the hardest job,” she said on her podcast IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson on March 11. “He reached the top of the thing you could do. Now he’s got work to do, individual work, to figure out, ‘Where am I gonna be? What do I wanna say? Who do I want to be?’ I’m doing the same thing.”
