Morgan Wallen Responds to Backlash Over Pittsburgh Concert Cancellation

Morgan Wallen Violated SNL COVID-19 Protocols

Wallen was set to be the musical guest on SNL in October 2020, but after images and videos of the artist partying in Alabama emerged online, he was removed from the show for not adhering to its COVID-19 guidelines.

“I was preparing for SNL this Saturday when I received a call from the show informing me that I would no longer be able to perform. This was due to COVID protocols, which I understand,” Wallen stated in a video shared on social media at that time. “I’m not positive for COVID, but my actions this past weekend were quite short-sighted and they have clearly impacted my long-term goals and dreams.”

The “Last Night” artist accepted responsibility for his actions.

“On a more personal note, I believe I have some growing up to do,” he added. “I think I’ve lost myself a bit. I’ve sought joy in the wrong places and it has left me with less joy. So, I’m going to take a step back from the spotlight for a while and work on myself.”

While Jack White took over as the musical guest, Wallen received another opportunity to perform on SNL that December. He even made light of the situation in one of the sketches.
