Most No. 1 Songs on the Billboard Hot 100 by Artists

Over 32,000 songs have appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 throughout its history. Of these, 1,192 have reached No. 1 (as of the chart dated May 30, 2026) — which is less than 4%.

It is even rarer for an artist to return to the top repeatedly. Only 12 artists have achieved 10 or more Hot 100 No. 1s in their careers — an exclusive group consisting of 10 solo acts and two groups. The Beatles hold the record with 20 No. 1 hits, having surpassed Elvis Presley in 1965.

Elvis Presley, who is notably absent from the 10-No. 1 club, scored seven No. 1s during the Hot 100 era. His breakthrough predates the chart’s launch on August 4, 1958, meaning several of his iconic hits — including “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Hound Dog,” and “Jailhouse Rock” — were released before the Hot 100 existed. In the Hot 100 era, he dominated with tracks like “A Big Hunk O’ Love,” “Stuck on You,” and “Suspicious Minds.”

Just outside the double-digit tier: Ariana Grande, Bee Gees, Beyoncé, Elton John, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney (both solo and with Wings), and Usher have all achieved nine No. 1s, while Justin Bieber, George Michael (excluding two credited solely to Wham!), and The Rolling Stones have eight each.

Here are the 12 artists who have earned 10 or more No. 1 hits on the Hot 100:
